The town of Rota celebrated its traditional Romería de San Isidro Labrador last Sunday, an event that brought together hundreds of residents and local groups in the pine forests, reaffirming the deep roots of this festivity.

The day of community coexistence proceeded without significant incidents, thanks to a special security and reinforced services operation coordinated by the Rota City Council. The massive participation of local groups and associations, along with the parade of carts, marked a day of gathering and celebration in a festive atmosphere and with respect for the natural environment.
The procession, accompanied by the devotees of the patron saint, made its way to the pine forests, where the traditional pilgrim's mass took place. Favorable weather contributed to the success of the celebration, which unfolded in a setting of harmony and enjoyment for all families.
To ensure the smooth running of the event, the city council, through the Department of Festivities, collaborated closely with the Brotherhood of San Isidro. They were responsible for setting up key infrastructures, such as tents for the local groups' bar service and a stage for religious acts. Additionally, basic services like lighting points, portable toilets, and increased waste bins were provided in the area. The Municipal Equestrian School was also made available for the service and stay of participating horses.
Given the large public turnout, urban bus services were reinforced, promoting the use of public transport to avoid traffic congestion and ensure smooth access to the celebration area. Security and environmental conservation were priorities, with the active participation of the Local Police, Civil Protection, and Cleaning and Health services, which allowed the pilgrimage to be compatible with the preservation of the pine forest.
The mayor and several members of the Municipal Corporation were also present at the events, sharing the day with the pilgrims and emphasizing the importance of keeping these traditions, which are part of Rota's identity, alive.
