The mayor of Sanlúcar, Carmen Álvarez, has announced the tender for the works to complete the Doñana Viewpoint Park, with a base budget of 1,584,476 euros. Interested companies can now submit their bids.
This project, which will be carried out over a period of six months, will be funded through the Doñana Agreement, with resources from the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. The initiative will not incur any cost to the municipal coffers.
Carmen Álvarez explained that, after resolving a previous contract that left the works unfinished, a step forward is being taken to meet the residents' demand for this green space. The project's inclusion in the Doñana Agreement was the result of negotiations to address a problem described as "entrenched and abandoned".
The future park, designed by the architecture firm Buró4, aims to renaturalize the Doñana environment. It will feature the planting of 147 trees and thousands of native shrubs, along with enhanced water cycle management through the reuse of rainwater for irrigation.
The design includes a visitor reception center, a nature classroom, and exhibition facilities. The panoramic viewpoint will ensure accessibility for people with reduced mobility. Furthermore, the plan reserves land for a future kiosk-bar and a space for a potential commemorative landmark of the First Circumnavigation of the World.
