This action, driven by the hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, aligns with the strategic guidelines of the Area's Humanization Plan. Its primary goal is to actively involve families in the care of their children from birth.
The voices of mothers and fathers, even in highly technological hospital environments, are considered crucial. They not only provide emotional comfort to newborns but also stimulate their brain development and facilitate early language acquisition.
To facilitate this practice, adapted books have been made available at the unit's entrance for families. This allows parents to dedicate time to reading while accompanying and caring for their babies, integrating a daily gesture into the care process and reinforcing their active role.
Even within the incubator, reading aloud becomes a simple yet high-impact intervention. Every word and every story contributes to the neonate's well-being and the formation of a strong early bond.
With this initiative, the Hospital de Jerez reaffirms its commitment to humanizing care, prioritizing not only clinical needs but also the emotional and relational aspects of patients and their families, in line with previous successful experiences at the center.
