The American multinational, which operates at the Rota Naval Base airport terminal, has surprised its workforce with the announcement of an ERTE. The company attributes the decision to organizational and operational reasons, linked to the work being carried out on the flight runway.
According to employee representatives, the announcement was met with displeasure, as this possibility had never been mentioned in previous discussions with company management. They have expressed their "deep disagreement" and stated that they will undertake "all necessary legal actions and public protests" to prevent the ERTE from being implemented.
“"We suspect it may be used as a bridging measure for further cuts and layoffs in the medium term."
The company has been involved in a labor dispute for several years, and the Rota City Council even declared it "persona non grata" in a plenary session. Last year, the municipal government expressed its "firm rejection" of the dismissal of a union representative, in the context of collective bargaining negotiations that have been ongoing for almost nine years, with dozens of layoffs reported since 2016.
