The CSIF union section for Spanish civilian contract workers at the Rota Base has criticized the continuous delays and cancellations in the collective agreement negotiation process. According to the union, the US Administration is subjecting the agreement to a "systematic blockade," generating "growing unease" among the more than one thousand Spanish workers providing services at the facilities for the US Navy.

CSIF laments the "lack of commitment and seriousness" shown by the North American side, pointing out that the latest meeting scheduled for early June was canceled by the US military official without proposing a new date. The union recalls that the last negotiating committee meeting was held a year ago, and since then, "it has all been delays, cancellations, and excuses."

The union organization emphasizes that the civilian workers at the Base "should not pay the consequences of a complicated international situation" and demands that the US Administration demonstrate "with actions" its willingness to reach an agreement. Likewise, CSIF urges the Spanish Ministry of Defense to demand that its US counterparts comply with what has been agreed upon bilaterally, which includes the negotiation of this collective agreement.

This situation adds to the Temporary Employment Regulation File (ERTE) affecting the staff of the concessionaire for the naval base's airport services.
