The popular summer festival in Sanlúcar, the Carmen Festival, has begun in the Bonanza neighborhood with a diverse program designed for all audiences. The events serve as a prelude to the feast of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, the patron saint of sailors.
The evening of Friday, July 10, will feature the performance of Terapia Flamenco at 10:30 PM, followed by Carmelo, Feli de Calle Muñoz, and Miguel Muñoz in the early morning hours.
Saturday, July 11, will be dedicated to the Cádiz Carnival. At 10:30 PM, the show Pa Piratas Nosotros will be presented, and at midnight, the chirigota group Los Antiguos will perform.
The festival's closing will be on Sunday, July 12. After the trophy awards ceremony at 10:30 PM, the Escuela de Baile Tatidancers and The Prom Queens will perform. The final touch will be by Jesulito with the Academia Eloelo. The special delegate of Bonanza-La Algaida, David Cáceres, will attend the events.
Following the festival, religious services in honor of Nuestra Señora del Carmen will continue until July 16, the feast day, which will conclude with the traditional procession and its meeting with the faithful on the Guadalquivir River.
The mayor of Sanlúcar, Carmen Álvarez, emphasized that the Carmen Festival is one of the most emblematic celebrations of the Sanlúcar summer. She thanked the collaboration of the Hermandad de Nuestra Señora del Carmen, the Asociación Ager Veneriensis, the residents, and all those involved in keeping this tradition alive.
