The mayors of Sanlúcar, Carmen Álvarez; Rota, Javier Ruiz; Chipiona, Luis Mario Aparcero; and Trebujena, Ramón Galán, held a meeting with the central government's subdelegate in Cádiz, Blanca Flores. The common objective of the region's town councils is to respond to the citizen and institutional demand for the recovery of the Costa Noroeste Train.
During the meeting, initiated at the mayors' request, they asked the Government Sub-delegation to commission the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility to conduct the necessary feasibility study for the implementation of this service. The mayor of Sanlúcar, Carmen Álvarez, recalled that this strategic infrastructure would improve mobility, promote more sustainable transport, and foster the economic and social development of the region, which lost its rail connection over 40 years ago.
Carmen Álvarez also conveyed the request from the Platform for the Costa Noroeste Train to be included in future meetings. The mayor emphasized the importance of a representative from this group, which actively advocates for the railway connection's recovery, attending upcoming sessions.
The mayor highlighted the common and solid position adopted by the Costa Noroeste town councils towards the competent administrations. The four mayors have also submitted meeting requests to the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility and the Ministry of Development, Territorial Planning, and Housing with the same objective. Carmen Álvarez stated that "the Costa Noroeste cannot continue to be the greatly forgotten in terms of infrastructure and communication."
