The Popular Party of Chipiona has launched an initiative to award the title of 'Hijos Predilectos' to the representatives of the town's three wineries. This proposal seeks to honor their substantial contribution to Chipiona's history and wine legacy.
PP spokesperson Isabel Jurado announced the proposal, emphasizing Chipiona's deep-rooted connection to vines, wine, and muscatel, elements present since the municipality's origins. She recalled that the 1477 Carta Puebla already promoted viticulture as an economic driver.
The recognition would be extended to José Mellado Martín, César Florido Romero, and Francisco Lorenzo Gallegos, representing the local wineries.
Jurado argued that these businesses embody a history extending beyond the economic sphere, intertwined with generations of families, workers, and winegrowers who have preserved the local wine tradition.
According to the spokesperson, the wineries are a cornerstone of Chipiona's roots, history, and identity, forming a transmitted heritage that has promoted the municipality's name.
Furthermore, the initiative aims to pay tribute to all the individuals and families who, over decades, have dedicated their labor to cultivating vines and producing wine in the locality.
