The decision to extend the deadline, which initially ended on October 9, aims to provide more opportunities for those interested in participating in this emblematic carnival representation. To be eligible as a 'piconero' or 'piconera', applicants must be over 18 years old by January 1, 2027, and be registered residents of Chipiona. Those selected will receive the traditional costume of the province of Cádiz as a gift from the Fiestas Delegation.
As a new feature for the 2027 edition, the organization will allow individuals who have previously served as 'piconeros' or 'piconeras' but were not chosen as the main 'piconero' or 'piconera' to reapply. This measure seeks to encourage greater participation and maintain the tradition.
Interested individuals can submit their applications through the General Registry, either in person or online. The Tourism office, located at the Chipiona Castle, has the complete contest rules available for interested parties.
