The mayor of Motril, Luisa García Chamorro, accompanied by councilors Daniel Ortega and Raquel Escámez, visited both spaces to oversee the transformation work. This action is part of the government team's commitment to renovate a total of 55 playgrounds in the city and its districts during this term.
García Chamorro highlighted that the execution of these improvements is possible thanks to the City Council's economic situation and the generation of surpluses, which are allocated to investments. "Fortunately, we are having between 10 and 12 million euros in surpluses and we are allocating that saving to invest in our city and our neighborhoods," she stated.
The mayor recalled the launch of the Plan Reactiva Barrios (Revitalize Neighborhoods Plan), an investment strategy with more than 7 million euros, which includes a significant allocation for the renovation of playgrounds in streets, squares, and schools.
In addition to the Margarita Nelken and Huerta de la Condesa playgrounds, the opening of two more playgrounds is planned for this week in Plaza Rederos de Varadero and in Puntalón. The total investment for the renovation of children's playgrounds amounts to 1.6 million euros, distributed throughout the municipality.
"We are acting in all neighborhoods. We want this investment to be noticeable throughout Motril and for our children to enjoy renewed, safe, and adequate spaces for play and leisure," the mayor emphasized.
