The sailing ship Star Clipper, which arrived from Málaga and is bound for Ibiza, was the first of nine cruises scheduled for April. During this month, the Andalusian port expects to welcome over 14,500 cruise passengers.
According to projections presented by the management of the Motril Port Authority, a "substantial growth" is expected in both the number of calls and passengers. The forecast is for a record year with 71 calls and over 125,000 cruise passengers, surpassing the 58,842 recorded in 2024, which was already a historic high for the facility.

The port's management has emphasized the importance of cruises for the future of the infrastructure, noting that tourists arriving by this means have access to a wide diversification of visits and activities in the region. The next cruise ship to arrive will be the Norwegian Gem, with 2,100 passengers and 1,000 crew members on board, scheduled for arrival next Monday.
