Motril is preparing to celebrate its 2026 Patron Saint Festivals, an event that brings together thousands of people. The Cortijo del Conde Fairgrounds has undergone various adaptations to enhance the experience for attendees with diverse abilities. The council has reaffirmed its commitment to holding inclusive festivities for all audiences.
Among the main initiatives, significant progress has been made in paving the fairground's streets. As explained by Gerardo Romano, Councilor for Youth, Festivals, and Events, over 70% of the streets where the swings are located and 100% of the children's attraction areas have now been paved. These works, covering approximately 2,000 square meters, aim to facilitate movement, especially for individuals with reduced mobility or those using strollers.
In addition to paving, other accessibility measures have been introduced. The Ferris wheel will offer free access to people with reduced mobility who present their disability accreditation card. Likewise, the 'Quiet Fair' days will continue, designed to provide a calmer environment for children with auditory sensitivity or different abilities. These sessions will take place on Wednesday, August 12, Thursday, August 13, and Saturday, August 15, from 8:30 PM to 10:15 PM.
Inmaculada Torres, Deputy Mayor for Social Action, highlighted the importance of these measures so that "everyone can enjoy magical days," aiming for Motril to become a benchmark for a fair adapted to the real needs of its citizens.
