Faced with extreme temperatures, the local administration has launched the initiative Yo, este verano, me SOLidarizo frente a las olas de calor. The project aims to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of adopting preventive measures to avoid heatstroke and other health issues derived from the summer climate.
The campaign highlights the availability of climate shelters at various points in Motril. These spaces, which include municipal facilities, pharmacies, and collaborating establishments, are available to residents to provide a safe environment against intense heat.
The South Granada Health Management Area is actively participating in this effort by organizing information talks at health centers. These sessions address key aspects such as proper hydration, sun protection, and care for at-risk groups, including children, the elderly, and patients with chronic conditions.
“"The main objective of this campaign is to inform, learn, and, above all, protect the public against this fourth heatwave and any others that may arrive throughout the summer in Motril."
Authorities recommend avoiding direct sun exposure between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM, keeping homes cool by closing windows during the day, and drinking water constantly. In case of symptoms such as dizziness, confusion, or headache, the public is urged to cool the body and contact emergency services by calling 112.
