The Motril City Council has presented the 'Barrios Reactiva' Plan, an initiative with 7 million euros and 106 actions aimed at modernizing infrastructure, renovating streets and public spaces, and improving equipment in all city neighborhoods.

The Motril council is promoting this new comprehensive strategy with the objective of improving citizens' quality of life through the renovation of its infrastructure and facilities. The global investment, financed with municipal reserves and the Plan for the Promotion of Agricultural Employment (PFEA), seeks to transform the city from its corners.
The mayor, Luisa García Chamorro, accompanied by several councilors, highlighted the importance of this plan, calling it a "firm commitment to each and every one of Motril's neighborhoods." She emphasized that "we are talking about actions that the people of Motril will be able to see, touch, and enjoy," assuring that they are not just projects on paper.
The interventions will be distributed throughout the city, with special attention to areas such as Ancha street, the square of I.E.S. Julio Rodríguez, San Antonio square, Fraternidad square, as well as the areas of Los Ríos, La Fabriquilla, Las Angustias, and Aviación.
More than 51 streets and squares will be addressed with an investment of 1.9 million euros. Additionally, over two million euros will be allocated to improving green areas, parks, and creating a new study room. Children's playgrounds, school swings, bathrooms, and electrical systems in educational centers such as Los Álamos, the sports court of Cardenal Belluga, the bathrooms of Pablo Picasso, and the Marsalá playroom will also be improved.
Other significant actions include the repair of fountains, the installation of new urban furniture, and the renovation of equipment. 620,000 euros will be invested in beach volleyball courts in Playa Granada and a pétanque court in Playa de Poniente. The improvement of large green spaces such as the Charca de Suárez, the Parque 28 de febrero Antonio Escámez, and the Parque de las Provincias will receive 2.2 million euros.
García Chamorro concluded that this plan, the largest ever dedicated to Motril's neighborhoods, represents a way of understanding the city that "advances from each of these corners and spaces."
