Motril City Council has concluded the comprehensive renovation of San Miguel street, an initiative that involved an investment of over 330,000 euros to enhance water supply and sanitation networks, as well as paving and urban accessibility.

The mayor of Motril, Luisa García Chamorro, accompanied by councilor José Balderas, visited San Miguel street after the completion of the comprehensive urban renovation works. This project, funded by over 330,000 euros in municipal investment from the Municipal Land Heritage (PMS) funds, reflects the City Council's commitment to improving neighborhoods and citizens' quality of life.
The project focused on the southern section of San Miguel street up to Plaza del Almendrillo, addressing the deterioration of the water supply and sanitation networks. The renovation included updating these networks and repaving an area of 1,192 square meters.
The mayor highlighted the significance of San Miguel street as a "very busy" route connecting important city areas, such as Ancha street and Rambla de Capuchinos, making it "fundamental to act to improve its condition and transit for both vehicles and pedestrians".
García Chamorro noted that the work, although "demanded by residents" and experiencing some delays due to issues with the concessionary company, has resulted in a "dignified street" that will soon be completed with the full renovation of public lighting.
For his part, councilor José Balderas expressed his "satisfaction" with the completion of the work, which involved the complete renewal of sanitation and supply networks and the paving of over 1,200 square meters, particularly thanking the technical team from Public Works for their efforts.
These works are part of the municipal objectives to achieve a sustainable urban model, enhancing the urban landscape and promoting pedestrian mobility, with a special focus on degraded areas.
