The appearance of jellyfish in various parts of the Almuñécar coast has resulted in the activation of the yellow flag. This precautionary measure has been implemented to alert swimmers about the presence of these marine animals. Although not exclusive to this area, lifeguard services along the entire Costa Tropical have been attending to jellyfish stings in recent weeks.
From the lifeguard post at Puerta del Mar beach, in Almuñécar La Herradura, a higher concentration of jellyfish has been observed in the San Cristóbal - Chinasol area. However, users from all nearby shores have reported the arrival of these creatures to the different lifeguard stations.
Additionally, this Tuesday, several beaches along the coast had to hoist the yellow flag to warn of necessary caution or, in some cases, the red flag, which prohibits swimming, due to strong waves. Specifically in Torrenueva Costa, residents and visitors have been asked to avoid entering the water and to follow the instructions of the lifeguards.
