The municipality of Almuñécar is gearing up for a particularly lively June, featuring a cultural program with over twenty events designed to welcome summer and attract both residents and tourists. The initiative aims to solidify the town as a cultural hub on the Costa Tropical.
The cultural agenda, presented by the Councillor for Culture, Alberto García Gilabert, spans various disciplines. Notably, the 'Amig@s de la Alfarería' (Pottery Friends) initiative will run from June 1st to 19th at the Pottery Center, offering workshops and demonstrations to introduce attendees to this traditional craft.
Musically, attendees can enjoy a concert by the 'Cuarteto Vivancos' and a performance by the 'Ensemble de Guitarras y Piano de Tokio' (Tokyo Guitar and Piano Ensemble). The program also includes theater, cinema, literary presentations, children's activities at the Municipal Library, and a new edition of 'Sexitanos en Ruta' (Sexitanos on the Road), focusing on the figure of Emperor Charles V.
The San Cristóbal cinema will host a double feature on June 8th, screening Torrente Presidente and Scary Movie. Gastronomy takes center stage with the XXVII Gastronomic Fair (June 5-7), Best Burger Almuñécar (June 19-21), and the International Gastronomic Fair (June 26-28), all taking place in El Majuelo park.
One of the new additions is 'Códice', a festival combining electronic music, heritage, and audiovisual experiences, scheduled for Saturday, June 20th, in the Acueducto park. Additionally, end-of-year performances from various flamenco and dance schools will be held, alongside theatrical productions such as Magic Dreams with Disney and Mamma Mia!.
The program will conclude with the traditional Night of San Juan, celebrated on the night of June 23rd to 24th at Puerta del Mar beach, gathering thousands to officially welcome the summer season.
The complete schedule of activities will be available from June 1st on the official channels of the Department of Culture and the Almuñécar City Council.
