Following the success of its inaugural edition, the Albuñol City Council has once again promoted this event, which seeks to foster reading habits and promote culture in rural areas. The fair, organized by entities such as El Batracio Amarillo and Secretos de Granada, aims to be a space for dialogue, creativity, and the exchange of ideas.
One of this year's novelties will be the publication of a commemorative book featuring texts by foreign authors about the Alpujarra, thereby enhancing the international projection of the area. This cosmopolitan approach is complemented by support for local and provincial talent, giving visibility to emerging writers and strengthening the cultural identity of the territory.
The program is diverse and designed for all ages, including book presentations and signings, literary encounters, creative workshops, children's activities, storytelling sessions, cultural and musical performances, as well as thematic exhibitions. Among the invited authors are renowned figures such as Juan Madrid, a reference in Spanish crime fiction; Ángeles Mora, a prominent contemporary poet; May R. Ayamonte, a relevant author in young adult literature; and Andrés Cárdenas, with an extensive cultural career. Their presence elevates the event's profile and facilitates direct interaction between writers and readers.
Additionally, exhibitions such as “Fronteras de guerra” by photographer Felipe Passolas, and “Mujeres por la Alpujarra” will be featured, focusing on social and cultural issues from an artistic perspective. The fair also has a significant educational dimension, with literary contests, visits to educational centers, and preliminary activities designed to spark interest in reading from an early age.
