The municipality of Mijas has maintained significant hotel activity following the peak summer season. Tourist establishments in the town recorded an occupancy rate of 89.50% during September, according to the latest report from the Association of Hoteliers of the Costa del Sol (AEHCOS). This figure approaches 90% of available capacity.
The Councilor for Tourism, Francisco Jerez, highlighted that while September marks a different pace than the summer vacation months, the high occupancy demonstrates the continued interest in visiting the municipality. September's results follow those of July (92.26%) and August (94.4%), maintaining an average of nearly nine out of every ten rooms occupied.
Jerez emphasized the crucial work of tourism sector professionals. "Behind these percentages lies a great deal of effort: from those who welcome the guest to those who prepare a room, serve a table, or resolve an inquiry. This attention is part of what the tourist takes away from Mijas and deserves our recognition," he stated.
The AEHCOS report also cautions about a predicted moderation in occupancy for the upcoming months of October and November across the province. In light of this, the Tourism Department of Mijas prioritizes maintaining the municipality's appeal and enhancing the visitor experience, believing that a positive stay encourages future visits and recommendations.
