The incident occurred around 5:00 PM during the journey between Plaza Mayor and the La Nogalera stop. The young woman, a Moroccan national, was traveling with a friend when two men began to observe her and make offensive gestures. Without prior conversation, the individuals, both in their twenties and also Moroccan nationals, allegedly uttered derogatory insults referencing her physical appearance and gender identity.
If you were in Morocco, you wouldn't dare to go out like that.
The victim asked for an explanation to stop the insults, but the situation escalated, with the two men attempting a physical assault. It was at this point that a person identifying as a Civil Guard officer intervened, stopping the attack and protecting the young woman in the carriage.
Upon the train's arrival at La Nogalera station in Torremolinos, National Police officers attended the scene to inform all parties of the next steps. The Provincial Police Station of Málaga confirmed that no arrests were made at the time, but investigators prepared an intervention report identifying those involved and forwarded the information to the court for appropriate action.
The Women's Support Team (EAM), which provided psychological assistance to the affected individual, highlighted that the alleged aggressors' attitude demonstrated “explicit hatred” towards the victim's gender identity. The EAM believes the events could constitute a hate crime and has submitted a technical report to the specialized Prosecutor's Office to determine responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of institutional coordination and immediate response to such aggressions.
