Eleven new Torremolinos Local Police officers take office in front of the Town Hall.

The Torremolinos City Council has incorporated eleven new officers into its Local Police, a significant reinforcement after 20 years without new hires, aiming to increase police presence and preventive surveillance in the municipality.

The Torremolinos Local Police has welcomed eleven new officers joining the force through open selection. This incorporation marks an important milestone, as the municipal security body had not added new personnel in the last two decades. The mayor, Margarita del Cid, highlighted during the swearing-in ceremony that this reinforcement will increase police presence on the streets and enhance preventive surveillance.
Accompanied by the Security Councilor, Cristóbal Molina, the mayor indicated that these new officers will bolster citizen security in the municipality. In addition to the eleven officers from open selection, one more officer has joined through mobility, bringing the total to twelve new personnel in this period.
The City Council has described this measure as a “firm commitment” to the municipality's security, calling the increase “significant” after 20 years without adding any police officers. The new personnel have successfully completed the selection process, their training, and the corresponding practical period.
The arrival of these officers will improve services to citizens, especially during months with high tourist influx when the municipality's population increases considerably. This incorporation is part of the “commitment” made at the beginning of the term to expand the Local Police staff.
The City Council plans to conclude the term with a total of 24 new officers integrated into the force, adding the current twelve and another twelve planned. This step aims to provide the city with more human resources and greater response capacity. This reinforcement joins other recent improvements, such as the activation of the Emergency Control Center, the implementation of a new IT management system, the modernization of internal communications, and the planned renewal of the police vehicle fleet, as well as improvements to the police facilities.
