The judicial order was issued after it became apparent that Saunders had fled the Costa del Sol, violating the terms of his provisional bail. Judicial sources confirmed the search and capture order issued by a court in Fuengirola.
Saunders is accused of causing the death of doorman Jose Pisani, 55, by delivering a punch that caused him to fall and hit his head on the corner of a table. The incident occurred around 12:30 am on April 16, 2023, at the venue Olivia's, owned by a former British reality TV celebrity.
According to pre-trial indictment papers from the Malaga prosecutors' office, Pisani intervened in a brawl inside the venue to try and restrain Saunders. The accused, however, managed to break free from the doorman's grip and delivered a heavy punch to his face, causing him to fall backwards and fracture his skull. Pisani passed away the following afternoon at Malaga Regional Hospital due to a brain hemorrhage.
Public prosecutors are demanding a four-year prison sentence for Saunders for manslaughter and wounding, along with €227,600 in compensation for the victim's family. The suspect has a history of extreme violence, having been arrested months prior for a triple attempted murder in Marbella and for possession of an illegal firearm.
The late doorman's family has faced further tragedy, as his widow tragically passed away six months later in an unrelated incident investigated as domestic violence. The manhunt for the British fugitive continues across Spain.
