The incident occurred on Friday around 11:40 am on Calle Barcenillas, near the victim's home. According to witnesses, three men approached and opened fire without warning. The young man sustained gunshot wounds to his leg and back and was seen stumbling towards a Dia supermarket in Plaza Virgen del Rocío.
Emergency services 112 were dispatched to the scene and rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation, codenamed 'Operation Brown', believes this was a targeted attack linked to organised crime.
All three suspects have now been detained. The first was arrested minutes later by Policía Nacional patrol officers near Plaza de la Merced. The other two fled, prompting an urgent search by specialist units focused on drugs and organised criminal groups.
One of the fugitives was located and arrested at a property used by the first detainee. The third man, who had altered his appearance, was tracked down and apprehended around 11 pm in Fuengirola.
This incident follows other recent shootings in the province. Earlier this week, a man in his 40s was shot in Zalea (municipality of Pizarra), with a woman arrested by the Guardia Civil. The previous week, a Dutch national and a Policía Local officer were injured in Marbella following a daylight shooting near a hotel, an incident linked to rival gang disputes.
