The decision, made during an extraordinary plenary session held on May 5, 2026, will allocate 300,000 euros to the electronic headquarters and the acquisition of new IT equipment. This measure aims to optimize internal processes, reduce processing times, and facilitate interaction between the local administration and citizens.
During the same session, the definitive activation of 18.5 million euros in investments was confirmed, previously approved in the ordinary plenary session of March. These funds will be allocated to a wide range of projects, including various infrastructures, energy installations, equipment for Civil Protection and Firefighter services, public road improvements, sports facilities, and telecommunications.
The validation of these investments occurred after an appeal against the budget modification was dismissed, allowing the economic availability for these projects to pass its final administrative procedure.
“"This investment in technology is essential to streamline procedures and improve efficiency in serving our residents."
Finally, the plenary also approved the payment of invoices from the Festivities department totaling 500,000 euros. These invoices had been withheld due to a dispute over the payment of fees to the General Society of Authors and Publishers (SGAE) for musical performances at the three fairs in 2024. Following the suspension of a judicial claim by the company and an agreement reached, the Mijas Town Council will proceed with the payment.
