The Mijas City Council has awarded the contract for the maintenance of green areas and cleaning of the Gran Parque de Mijas to the temporary joint venture (UTE) formed by Inditec and Ituval. This urban green infrastructure, the largest in Andalusia at 270,000 square meters, will have its care and cleaning ensured for an amount of 1.95 million euros annually over three years.
This agreement complements those already formalized for the conservation and maintenance of facilities (CLECE FS for 1.3 million) and for security, opening, and closing (CLECE Seguridad for 1.17 million), thus completing the park's operations.
As significant improvements, the contract includes the installation of 6,000 square meters of awnings in squares and recreational areas, as well as the provision of a dozen accessible and adapted public restrooms, enhancing the visitor experience.
The Gran Parque, located in Las Lagunas, hosts over 2,900 trees and 20,000 plants, and features sports facilities, children's play areas, an amphitheater, and a central lake. Inditec, a division of Grupo Ortiz, and Ituval, specializing in environmental engineering technical services, have previously collaborated on urban gardening projects in other municipalities.
Furthermore, the project has optimized water consumption by adapting the vegetation to the local climate, achieving a 74% reduction in irrigation, positioning the park as a benchmark in sustainable gardening.
