The Mijas Fair is fast approaching, and details about its program and main figures are gradually being revealed. Today, Mayor Ana Mata announced that local journalist Mari Carmen Jaime, a resident of the Barrio de Santana, will be the one to deliver the proclamation for this edition.
The Mayor welcomed the future proclaimer at the Town Hall, emphasizing her deep roots in the town. "Mari Carmen represents the values of our city like no one else. She is a young professional who always champions Mijas, so she will undoubtedly do a great job as proclaimer," stated the councilwoman.
For her part, Jaime expressed her excitement about giving the speech, given her lifelong connection to the fair. "It's emotional to speak about an event that is deeply ingrained in my life and my family's. I hope to do it justice and that everyone enjoys what I have to say about my hometown's fair," she assured.
The proclamation will take place on September 6th at 9:00 PM in the Miguel González Berral auditorium. Entry is free until full capacity is reached.
Mari Carmen Jaime was born in 1985 in the heart of Mijas Pueblo, in the Barrio de Santana. Since 2007, she has worked in various media outlets, consistently present in the town, until she joined the institutional press office in 2018. Since last May, she has been responsible for the editions of the newspapers Viva Mijas and Viva Benalmádena, returning to print media and once again reporting on her municipality's current affairs.
Deeply connected to traditions, she is a member of the Hermandad del Santísimo Cristo de la Columna, with whom she collaborates during Holy Week. She also dances with the UP group directed by Víctor Rojas. Although she has lived in various places, she has always proudly represented her hometown.
In addition to being this year's fair proclaimer, Jaime also authored the poster for the Barrio Santana festival this year and was chosen as Miss Facebook at the Mijas fair in 2013.
