For three days, a group of participants from the Adintre Fuengirola Association took part in a photography workshop organized by the Escuela Nómada f/22 and the Fundación Unicaja. The initiative, which began as training in the fundamentals of photography, evolved into an experience of expression, encounter, and mutual recognition, demonstrating the camera's power as a tool for integration.
Beyond technique, the workshop focused on personal perspective and photography's ability to convey emotions and messages. The first day was dedicated to theory, analyzing iconic images and discovering that one does not need to be a professional to communicate important ideas through a photograph. It was emphasized that each person has a unique way of observing reality that deserves to be shared.
The second day was focused on practice, with participants going out to explore their surroundings with cameras and mobile phones. The everyday, such as a detail in a street or a shadow, became an opportunity to create meaningful images. The exercise promoted observation, pausing, and valuing what often goes unnoticed.
The third day culminated in an exhibition of the work produced at the Adintre Fuengirola center. The displayed photographs served as a medium for the authors to share their experiences and views of their environment, generating a space for dialogue and mutual appreciation. The exhibition highlighted the participants themselves as protagonists of their visual stories.
Photography is presented as a powerful alternative for individuals in vulnerable situations, offering a direct and accessible channel to communicate emotions and viewpoints without the need for lengthy speeches. It fosters key skills for social integration such as self-esteem, creativity, confidence, and teamwork. Furthermore, photographic practice encourages looking beyond labels, focusing on the ability to create and interpret the world.
