The Marbella City Council has approved the urbanization project for the Las Dunas sector, an initiative that will allow the construction of a luxury hotel and involves an investment of 23.5 million euros by the developers.

The decision was announced by the mayor after the Local Government Board meeting, where the project presented by the developers of the future W hotel was reviewed. This approval represents the granting of the necessary license to begin work in the area.
The urbanization project for the Las Dunas sector has received all favorable sectoral permits and reports, allowing the local government to give its approval. The initiative involves a comprehensive intervention in the plot, located in Real de Zaragoza, with an area of 162,000 square meters.
Key aspects of the plan include infrastructure improvements, protection of the natural environment, modernization of public services, and the creation of new community and leisure spaces. The developers will invest 23.5 million euros in this urbanization phase, covering everything from public lighting and water supply to sanitation and green area treatment.
A highlight is the dune regeneration of the area, a requirement from the local administration, as well as the protection of the coastal front for the continuity of the promenade. It also includes the conservation of existing trees, the reduction of earth movements, and the implementation of permeable surfaces to favor the natural water cycle and protect fauna and biodiversity.
Regarding hydraulic infrastructures, the project foresees a new complete sanitation network, a storm tank, the sustainable channeling of the Real de Zaragoza stream, and the improvement of water drainage and evacuation. A bioengineering solution will be used to enhance hydraulic safety, reduce flood risk, and environmentally restore the channel. Additionally, the project includes the construction of a public spaces area, one kilometer of main rainwater collectors, and a new connecting bridge to the Golden Beach urbanization, including a bike lane and pedestrian areas.
Furthermore, the Local Government Board has reported on the expansion of sanitation in Salvador Dalí and Pablo Picasso streets, also in Real de Zaragoza. This action, undertaken by the City Council based on an agreement with Hidralia, has a tender budget of 140,000 euros and an execution period of two months. The objective is to complete the sanitation network, resolve historical deficiencies, and improve wastewater evacuation in these streets.
