Properties in Estepona, sold four years ago by the City Council to a constructor and personal friend of Mayor José María García Urbano (PP), are now being offered as tourist apartments under the brand 'La Perla del Puerto'. These buildings, located next to the marina, are available for rent at prices ranging from 130 to 250 euros per night, depending on the season.
The adjudication, which took place in August 2022, was awarded to Omega 93, a company owned by Bonifacio Solís. The auction had minimal publicity and was poorly classified on the tender portal, with only the aforementioned company submitting a bid. The final sale price of 1,245,000 euros was just over half the cadastral value and a quarter of what the council had previously obtained for an adjacent property.
Currently, 'La Perla del Puerto' comprises 21 'accommodation units', which are essentially ten apartments ranging from 40 to 60 square meters, each capable of hosting four people (double bed and sofa bed). These establishments recently received their tourism brand license. The area occupied by the completed apartments constitutes only a fraction of the total premises purchased by Omega 93.
