American businesswoman and philanthropist Nancy Walton Laurie has dropped anchor in the Costa del Sol waters with her €300 million megayacht, named Kaos, and its accompanying €30 million support vessel, Kalm. The two ships were filmed coasting outside of Puerto Banús' harbour on Wednesday afternoon.
The 67-meter support ship, Kalm, was shown in a video reversing out of the marina, as it was too large to fully turn around from inside the port. The Kaos, on the other hand, is a 110.1-meter luxury megayacht, described as a 'floating palace'.
The 361-foot masterpiece spans four levels with 16 cabins, accommodating up to 31 guests. The Kaos boasts its own private beach club, helipad, and aquarium. Onboard, guests can also find a 12-person cinema, massage parlour, hammam, gym, and separate crew quarters.
Those aboard the four-decker vessel can access 'The London Bar,' fully equipped with a DJ booth, smoke machines, and a water-wall chandelier. Built in 2014 by esteemed ship craftsman Damen, it was a passion project by exclusive yacht designer Sam Sorgiovanni. The design draws inspiration from the film Casablanca, blending Arabian and European cultures, and features high-class materials such as Crystal Caviar insets, silk carpets, and stones like Golden Spider and Iranian white onyx.
The 74-year-old heiress sets a precedent as one of the few women to own a megayacht paired with a dedicated support vessel. The Kalm functions as a 'shadow ship,' following the Kaos and reaching speeds of 22 knots, with a 340,000-gallon fuel tank. This additional ship carries Laurie’s collection of ski equipment, jet skis, a helicopter, tenders, toys, and supposedly a submersible. The Kalm also provides a fully equipped medical facility.
Having now acquired both Kaos and Kalm, Laurie possesses the largest superyacht owned by a woman. These vessels have previously been owned by notable figures such as Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg and Gabe Newell, co-founder of video game developer Valve, under names like Dapple and Wingman.
According to Forbes, Nancy Walton Laurie is worth $19 billion, making her the 143rd richest person globally. She and her sister Ann received Walmart stock after their father Bud Walton's death in 1995, earning enough to make both siblings billionaires. Bud Walton and his brother Sam established the retail giant in 1967 in Rogers, Arkansas.
