The Civil Guard has reported the dismantling of a drug trafficking network operating from the Costa del Sol, specifically from Marbella. This organization was dedicated to sending marijuana to different parts of the European Union, using parcel delivery companies to camouflage the substance in polystyrene portable coolers.
The investigation, dubbed operation Ondas, began after receiving information from Belgian authorities about drug shipments from southern Spain. The Organic Unit of Judicial Police of the Málaga Command took over the case, identifying a group of individuals based in Marbella as those responsible for these shipments.
The gang's modus operandi involved hiding the drugs inside expanded polystyrene coolers, which were carefully packaged and sealed to prevent the smell from revealing their contents. Shipments were made to fictitious recipients in countries such as Poland, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, and Italy.
The operation concluded with the arrest of nine individuals: three in Spain, two in Italy, two in Belgium, and two in Poland. Six house searches were carried out in these countries, leading to the seizure of 47.58 kilograms of marijuana, 8.3 kilograms of hashish, and 23,000 euros in cash. Those arrested in Marbella have been remanded in provisional prison by judicial order.
