This protocol establishes a framework for stable cooperation between both entities to promote joint initiatives that facilitate the integration of artificial intelligence technologies into the agri-food domain. The alliance aims to strengthen the link between academic research, technological advancement, and the specific demands of the agricultural sector in Andalusia.
Planned actions include the exchange of scientific and technological information, the preparation of reports, the formation of working groups, the development of R&D projects, and the organization of activities aimed at promoting research and knowledge transfer.
Furthermore, the protocol foresees the implementation of training programs for research staff and the organization of specialized workshops and seminars on the use of intelligent technologies to advance towards more efficient, sustainable, and competitive agriculture.
The collaboration will be channeled through the International Chair ENIA of Artificial Intelligence and Agriculture at the UCO, an initiative created to foster research and the transfer of innovative solutions in the sector.
The origin of this alliance stems from the international congress AI-Agrifood, held on March 19th in Córdoba. This event, organized by the aforementioned chair along with IFAPA and the Institute of Sustainable Agriculture (IAS-CSIC), brought together researchers, companies, and professionals to analyze the potential of artificial intelligence in future agriculture.
The agreement was signed by the rector of the UCO, Manuel Torralbo, and the president of Ifapa, Marta Bosquet. The event was also attended by the director of the International Chair ENIA, Rosa Gallardo; the Vice-Rector for Scientific Policy, María José Polo; and the researcher from Ifapa, Carlos Parra.
