Data from the latest Hotel Occupancy Survey (EOH), published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), reveals an ambivalence in tourism behavior in the Cordoban capital. During the month of March, the city welcomed 87,696 tourists, representing a slight increase compared to the 86,918 visitors recorded in the same month of 2025.
This monthly rebound is primarily attributed to the influx of foreign visitors, who offset the decrease in national tourists. In March, 39,719 foreigners arrived, a 4.2 percent increase from the previous year, while Spanish visitors totaled 47,977, a figure 828 people lower than in 2025.
Regarding overnight stays, the figure remained stable at 150,375, very similar to the 150,294 in March 2025. International tourists contributed 65,849 nights, surpassing the 61,387 of the previous year, while national overnight stays decreased by 4.9 percent, to 84,526.
Despite the recovery in March, the cumulative balance for the first quarter of 2026 shows an overall decline. Between January and March, the city received 209,943 travelers, representing a 7.6 percent drop compared to the 227,366 in the same period of 2025. This decrease is explained by the impact of the high-speed rail line disruption, which significantly affected national tourism, with 118,611 visitors compared to 138,901 the previous year.
Total overnight stays in the first quarter also reflect this negative trend, reaching 355,378, an 8.1 percent less than in 2025. Foreign visitors, however, have shown a constant increase in the first three months of 2026, accumulating a rise of 3.2 percent to 91,332 arrivals and 152,258 overnight stays.
