The municipalities of Priego de Córdoba, Obejo, and Baena are in a critical situation, with nitrate readings ranging between 30 and 50 milligrams per liter (mg/l). This range is considered a risk threshold, very close to exceeding the legal limit established for these substances in water intended for human consumption.
The report, compiled by Greenpeace from information provided by the National Consumer Water Information System (SINAC), highlights that Priego de Córdoba registered 45 mg/l of nitrates, while Obejo reached 44 mg/l. Meanwhile, Baena showed a level of 30 mg/l. These figures position the three Cordoban localities as points of particular concern on the water quality map.
The presence of nitrates in water above certain levels can have public health implications, underscoring the importance of adequately monitoring and managing the quality of the supply in these areas.
