The Palacio de la Merced in Córdoba hosted a workshop focused on enhancing the exchange of experiences among women from rural environments across different generations.

This event is part of the ‘Mujeres con raíz’ program, an initiative by Fundación La Caixa with support from the Delegation of Equality of the Diputación de Córdoba. The project, also active in Palma del Río, aims to foster contact and the sharing of knowledge and experiences among women of various ages living in rural settings.
Auxiliadora Moreno, delegate for Equality, Development Cooperation, Consumption, and Citizen Participation of the Diputación, highlighted Córdoba's selection for this working meeting. She noted that the program, implemented in Palma del Río with FUNDECOR and the Diputación, is yielding positive results by focusing on rural areas and intergenerational activities for women.
M.ª Ángeles Mellado, director of Fundecor, expressed satisfaction with the project's selection, stating it positions Córdoba prominently in a national conversation about rural sustainability and the roles of women and youth. She detailed the project's action lines: one for youth (entrepreneurship promotion), another for women entrepreneurs and businesswomen (professional skills development with the University of Córdoba), and support for vulnerable groups through the Instituto Andaluz de la Mujer.
The mayor of Palma del Río, Matilde Esteo, emphasized the project's significance for her municipality, addressing the demographic challenge through equality, youth, and the wisdom of elders. Sara Pinzi, Vice-Rector for Equality, Inclusion, and Social Commitment at the University of Córdoba, shared the institution's desire to connect with the province and rural areas, valuing the project's intergenerational approach.
The event is part of the reflection cycle 'The sustainability of rural spaces' by Fundación La Caixa. Fundecor, through its ‘Mujeres con Raíz’ project, was chosen from 63 rural projects nationwide to co-organize one of four planned territorial workshops. The gathering brought together institutional representatives, social entities, and strategic stakeholders to analyze challenges and opportunities in youth and women's participation in rural areas, aiming to bolster social sustainability and generational renewal.
The primary goal of ‘Mujeres con Raíz’ is to combat rural depopulation, foster entrepreneurship, and create employment and social opportunities, with a focus on the female talent in local towns. Over three years, the program will integrate training, entrepreneurship, social inclusion, and digitalization. This initiative is a collaboration between Fundación La Caixa and Fundecor, with contributions from the City Council of Palma del Río, the Diputación de Córdoba, the Vice-Rectorate of the UCO, and the Instituto Andaluz de la Mujer.
