During a recent electoral debate, a representative of the PSOE for Córdoba highlighted the urgent need to address waiting lists in healthcare and dependency, as well as the situation of classrooms in schools. The party has promised an additional investment of 3 billion euros for regional public healthcare and the hiring of 18,000 professionals.
The goal is to ensure that citizens of Córdoba are seen by their doctor within a maximum of two days, obtain diagnostic tests within 30 days, and undergo surgery in less than six months. To achieve this, the PSOE seeks to legally safeguard these waiting periods for patients.
“"In the province of Córdoba, around a thousand elderly people die each year waiting for dependency aid. There are 82,000 Cordobans on public healthcare waiting lists. And in the eight years of the PP Government, 300 classrooms in schools have been closed."
In the field of dependency, the 'Zero Waiting Plan' is proposed, which includes the 'Guarantee 180', ensuring automatic provisional aid if the file is not resolved within six months. In education, the commitment is to increase teaching staff by 13,000 new positions in Andalusia by the 2029-2030 academic year, reduce ratios, and create 30,000 new public Vocational Training places. It also plans to reform the university funding model to reach at least 2% of the Andalusian GDP.
In addition to public services, the PSOE addresses housing, promising the incorporation of 100,000 new social housing units in eight years, primarily for affordable rental. In infrastructure, the party commits to promoting the long-delayed Autovía del Olivar, which affects 52.6 kilometers in the province, and the conversion of the A-306 between El Carpio and Torredonjimeno into a highway.
Finally, the PSOE has announced the creation of the Andalusian Institute of Finance, a public instrument for strategic projects of reindustrialization, ecological transition, and digitalization, and the launch of the 'New Modernization Plan for Andalusia'. Depopulation will also be addressed with a Law on Rural Rights and Services and a Cohesion Fund for rural areas.
