A recent study, presented in Córdoba, reveals that the Andalusian industrial sector is evolving from an expectation into a reality under construction. However, its full consolidation requires sustained institutional stability. This report, titled Industrial Pulse, positions Andalusia at a crucial moment, with notable progress that is still insufficient to establish a fully developed industrial model.
The analysis highlights that Andalusia possesses differentiating assets such as renewable energy, qualified talent, and a privileged geostrategic location. Despite this, the region has not yet managed to transform this potential into a sustained competitive advantage. The weight of industry in the regional economy remains limited, indicating both the path ahead and the magnitude of the existing opportunity.
The energy transition and the electrification of the economy are emerging as the main industrial catalysts. The vast renewable potential makes Andalusia an attractive destination for energy-intensive industries and facilitates the creation of new value chains linked to the green economy, positioning the community in the new industrial cycle.
The study identifies agribusiness as the fundamental pillar of growth, supported by the strength of the primary sector and its progressive technification. Renewable energies, the aeronautical industry, and defense also contribute significantly, with consolidated hubs and high added value. Other relevant sectors include the chemical and petrochemical industry, the logistics-port sector, and emerging niches linked to innovation and applied technology.

Despite the observed dynamism, industrial progress faces significant structural barriers. Bureaucracy, lengthy administrative procedures, and regulatory complexity continue to be key obstacles to investment. Added to this are limitations in access to energy infrastructures, especially in transport and distribution networks, which slow down the implementation of new projects.
The report also points to the fragmentation of the business fabric, with a predominance of small and medium-sized enterprises, which hinders growth, innovation, and internationalization. Furthermore, the brain drain of qualified talent and generational replacement issues represent strategic risks for the evolution of the Andalusian industrial sector.
