Amidst the high temperatures in Cordoba, which have led to a red alert for highs of up to 44 degrees, optimizing electricity consumption becomes essential. The average electricity cost for customers with regulated tariffs linked to the wholesale market (PVPC) this Tuesday, June 23rd, is set at €0.164/kWh.
For those needing to use air conditioning, washing machines, dishwashers, or charge devices, the most advantageous times of the day are concentrated during off-peak hours. The cheapest hour will be at 3:00 PM, with a price of €0.109/kWh. Other low-cost periods include hours from 12:00 AM to 9:00 AM and from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Conversely, it is advisable to avoid intensive energy use during peak hours when the cost soars. The most expensive hour of the day will be at 9:00 PM, reaching €0.299/kWh. Between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM, the price will remain above €0.255/MWh.
To mitigate the impact of the electricity bill during the heatwave, it is recommended to set the thermostat to an optimal temperature of 27°C, keep blinds and awnings lowered to block the sun, and ventilate the home during the early morning hours. Turning off standby appliances, avoiding heat-generating appliances during central hours, and using ceiling fans are other effective measures.
