Amidst the anticipation following the end of the regular season, Córdoba CF's executive, Antonio Monterrubio, has clarified the club's policy regarding potential player departures. He specifically addressed the continuity of Adrián Fuentes and Isma Ruiz, players who have garnered interest from several Spanish top-flight teams.
Monterrubio was firm in stating that "Córdoba is not offering nor is it interested in transferring any of its assets." The primary objective, as explained, is the team's continuity and growth, not revenue from sales. "We are not thinking about money, but about players to keep growing," he remarked. The only way these players could leave would be if their release clause is paid, at which point the club would seek a reliable replacement.
Regarding other contracted players for the upcoming season, the CEO indicated that no departures are being considered. However, he clarified that if a player explicitly requests to leave, the club would facilitate the process without insisting on the clause, though he noted that currently, there are no such requests.
Concerning other cases, the continuity of Theo and Pedro is being evaluated, as they have a renewal option in their contracts which expire on June 30th.
Monterrubio also addressed the situation of Fomeyem, who is scheduled for surgery on an ankle injury. "Fofo will be operated on in an hour. We will issue a medical report tomorrow," he announced, detailing that the decision was made in consultation with specialists and that full explanations will be provided at the start of preseason due to the sensitive nature of the issue.
Finally, regarding the six players returning from loan spells, the executive explained that most have offers from other clubs, and the intention is to find them new destinations where they can gain playing time and continue their development. However, some might start preseason with the team while awaiting a chance to impress the coaching staff.
The CEO described the season as "good," acknowledging a "slight bittersweet feeling" for not reaching higher goals, but emphasizing that the team maintained its league status and competed for a playoff spot, a significant achievement considering the club's starting point.
