The Cordoban capital was the scene of a massive protest, where citizens of various ages and backgrounds, including municipalities such as Puente Genil, Fernán Núñez, and Aguilar de la Frontera, united to express their discontent. Organizers estimated attendance at over 4,000 people, while the Local Police reported approximately 3,200 participants.
The demonstration, which started from the Delegation of Health of the Junta de Andalucía in Córdoba, marched through important city arteries. Banners and chants reflected concerns about long waiting lists, the shortage of medical staff, the condition of health centers, and deficiencies in breast cancer screening programs.
“"We come to tell Moreno Bonilla that we will see each other on election day. We are going to ask people to vote in self-defense, in defense of public healthcare, and against those who dismantle it."
From the organizing bodies, the "dismantling" of public healthcare was denounced, especially in small municipalities where medical attention has been reduced. Calls were made for greater public investment and the retention of healthcare professionals in the autonomous community.
Union representatives such as Marina Borrego of CCOO and Encarna Laguna of UGT in Córdoba criticized the increasing privatization of the system and the loss of 1,500 professionals since 2020. They also pointed to the increase in waiting lists and the diversion of public funds to private healthcare, which, according to CCOO, rose from 750 million to one billion euros in the Junta's budget for 2025.
The protest was attended by political figures, including Rosa María Rodríguez, candidate for Por Andalucía, and Rafi Crespín, general secretary of the PSOE of Córdoba, who joined the criticisms against the healthcare management of the Andalusian Government.
