“"The measurements taken by the Firefighters highlight the real impact that the new shading infrastructures are having, especially on a weekend marked by high temperatures, which have far exceeded 35 degrees. We are talking about a leap in quality for our Fair that, moreover, responds to the requests we have been receiving from citizens."

Firefighters from the Córdoba City Council have measured the effectiveness of new awnings installed at the 2026 Feria de Nuestra Señora de La Salud, recording temperature differences of up to 18ºC compared to sun-exposed areas.
The Prevention, Extinction of Fires, and Rescue Service (SPEIS) of the Córdoba City Council conducted thermal measurements on Saturday at the El Arenal fairgrounds to assess the impact of the awnings, installed for the first time this year. The results indicate that areas protected by these structures are up to 15 ºC cooler than those directly exposed to the sun.
At 3:40 PM on Saturday, thermal cameras detected 50 ºC on sun-exposed surfaces, while areas under the awnings registered 32 ºC. The difference was even more drastic when measuring the temperature of the awning itself, which was 27 ºC, representing a 23 ºC reduction compared to the exposed ground.
This year's Fair features nearly 7,000 square meters of awnings along the main streets, a measure aimed at combating the heat and improving comfort for visitors and workers. This initiative is complemented by the recent planting of 184 trees in the fairgrounds, which will provide additional shade in the future and improve the city's air quality.
Urbano also emphasized the importance of staying hydrated, using the shaded areas during the hours of most intense solar incidence, and exercising extreme caution with the most vulnerable individuals, given the expectation of high temperatures throughout the week.
