The leading candidate for the PSOE in Córdoba for the Andalusian Parliament met with the leadership of UGT Córdoba to outline socialist proposals on employment, conciliation, and equality ahead of the May 17 elections.

During the meeting, the socialist representative highlighted the positive employment and social security affiliation figures at the national level, attributing them to the policies of the central Government. It was emphasized that, for the first time, 22.5 million affiliates have been reached, and the unemployment rate has fallen to 10.8%, the best figure for a first quarter since 2008.
Emphasis was also placed on the significant increase in permanent contracts and job stability, resulting from the labor reform promoted by the Government. This reform, according to the candidacy, has transformed the labor market despite opposition from other parties, being positively evaluated by unions and companies.
Among the programmatic measures presented is the creation of a Ministry of Equality with cross-cutting powers within the Andalusian Government, to ensure the integration of a gender perspective in all public policies. The approval of an Andalusian Equality Strategy 2026-2030 within the first 12 months of the legislature is also planned, with measurable objectives in wage gap, employment, health, and co-responsibility.
In the economic sphere, the creation of the Andalusian Institute of Finance was proposed as a public instrument to finance strategic projects for reindustrialization, ecological transition, and digitalization. Additionally, a New Modernization Plan for Andalusia will be promoted, concentrating public investment, industrial policy, and European funds.
The socialist candidacy also put forward a regional tax reform based on progressivity and social justice, aiming for those with more to contribute more and ensuring the funding of essential public services. Regarding employment, a system of social conditionality for public aid was proposed, requiring beneficiary companies to meet criteria for dignified employment, gender equality, and sustainability.
For her part, the general secretary of UGT Córdoba thanked the meeting and expressed the union's alignment with the socialist commitment to recover public services, especially public healthcare. She also stated the need for a definitive shift in Córdoba's productive model towards industrialization that guarantees the province's future, as well as the urgency of a wage increase and moderation of housing prices.
