According to recent data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, the number of unemployed in Córdoba fell by 3.43% compared to March and by more than 11% in the year-on-year comparison. This improvement places the total number of unemployed at 47,522, a record not seen since before the construction crisis.
The services sector has been the main driver of this reduction, with 1,024 fewer unemployed last month. Other sectors also showed positive trends: agriculture with 112 fewer unemployed, industry with 108 fewer, and construction with 93 fewer. Regarding gender distribution, women account for the majority of the unemployed, with 29,707, compared to 17,815 men. Additionally, 3,833 young people under 25 were jobless in the province at the end of April.

Despite the drop in unemployment, affiliation to the Social Security in Córdoba registered a monthly decrease of 1,499 contributors in April, although a year-on-year comparison shows an increase of 5,158 registered individuals. A local trade union has positively assessed the reduction in unemployment, attributing it to the recovery of workers after previous layoffs and the start of the tourist and agricultural season, but insists on the need for a more industrialized productive model.

Projects like the green copper plant or the Army Logistics Base are on the right track, but Córdoba needs more initiatives of this type to reduce precariousness."
Regionally, Andalucía led the national decline in unemployment in April, with 22,393 fewer unemployed people, representing a 3.86% decrease compared to the previous month. Nationally, registered unemployment stood at 2,357,044 people, the lowest figure since June 2008, in a context of historical employment records.
