The classic Don Juan Tenorio arrives at Cordoba's Teatro Góngora on November 2nd with a new staging by the company Escena Trece.

The renowned seducer Don Juan Tenorio returns to Cordoba to defy the living and the dead in a version that delves into the darkest Spain of Goya. The performance will take place on November 2nd, at 8:00 PM, at the Teatro Góngora.
The company Escena Trece presents an adaptation of José Zorrilla's classic, respecting the original text but with a reduced duration and a suggestive historical setting. The action is set during the reign of Ferdinand VII, known as the Ominous Decade, a period marked by the return of absolutism, political instability, and the weight of superstitions.
This context transforms the story of Don Juan and Doña Inés into more than just a romantic drama, depicting a country clinging to its old glories, populated by shadows, beliefs, and fears, with an atmosphere that directly evokes the black paintings of Francisco de Goya.
The stage production combines acting, a cappella music, sword fights, and carefully crafted costumes, aiming to restore the mystery, intensity, and scenic magic traditionally associated with a play that has been performed for generations around All Saints' Day.
The cast includes Manuel Porras, Alejandra Hinojosa, Andrés Santiago, Sabina Vicente, Rafael López, and Iván Herrera. Direction and dramaturgy are by Juan Castilla, with lighting and sound by Dani Malia, costumes by Sergio Venteo, and scenography and production by Escena Trece.
With over a century and a half of history, Don Juan Tenorio continues to hold a privileged place in the Spanish theatrical imagination, blending love, defiance, death, repentance, and redemption.
Tickets for the performance are priced at 14 euros for the mezzanine and 18 euros for stalls, offering an opportunity to rediscover one of the great classics of universal theatre in a version that promises darkness, emotion, and steel on the Góngora stage.
