The company awarded the cleaning service contract, Meprosa Mantenimiento y Servicios SL., based in Vigo, has not paid any amount to its employees since taking over management last June. In addition to non-payment, the company has also failed to provide the necessary materials, tools, and products for cleaning the center. The company's headquarters being over 1,000 kilometers from Córdoba creates a situation of "absolute lack of protection" for the employees, who lack materials, are not being paid, and have no company representative to contact.
As explained by the provincial secretary of FeSMC UGT Córdoba, Juan Martínez, the service was awarded to this company on June 25 for a period of five years. Meprosa Mantenimiento y Servicios SL.'s bid was 15.46% below the base tender budget, which, according to the union, led the Administration to "inexplicably" assign the concession, prioritizing economic savings over service quality and labor guarantees.
Martínez described the actions of the Casa Árabe management as "lamentable," accusing them of subjecting employees to "unnecessary pressure" and holding them responsible for the company's breaches. Subsequently, management reportedly opted to temporarily hire another cleaning company without demanding compliance from the original contractor or initiating a new tender after terminating the contract due to non-compliance.
