The filmmaker, producer, and writer, recognized with a Goya Award, is venturing into the literary world with her first novel, titled Madonna no nació en Wisconsin. The work, published by Galaxia Gutenberg, will be presented on Wednesday, May 13, at the Grupo Cántico Library in Córdoba.
This event, organized by the Andalusian Center of Letters (CAL), marks the director's foray into narrative, transitioning from visual to written language. Her novel is described as an exploration of the past to understand the present, a vital process that seeks to establish a deep connection with readers through a sensitive and brave voice.

The plot of Madonna no nació en Wisconsin tells the story of a woman who revisits her past to build her present, a girl who seeks to transform her reality and survive. The novel is a tale of reconciliation, memory, and reinvention, highlighting the tenacity of wanting to remain in a constantly changing world.
The author, born in Zaragoza in 1979, is a multifaceted figure in the Spanish cultural scene. Her first feature film, Ara Malikian: una vida entre las cuerdas (2019), earned her the Goya Award and the José María Forqué Film Award for best documentary feature, as well as the Biznaga de Plata Mujeres en Escena at the Málaga Festival. Her work as a filmmaker is distinguished by the poetics of her images and her social commitment, addressing themes such as migration, motherhood, and the Armenian genocide. She is also the stage director for the musical shows of violinist Ara Malikian.
