Singer Dani Martín has sparked controversy after calling an 11-year-old girl "ill-mannered" during his concert in Córdoba, later defending that his intention was a joke.
An incident during Dani Martín's performance at El Arenal in Córdoba has ignited controversy on social media. An 11-year-old girl, visibly excited, held up a sign asking to come on stage to sing with her idol. The artist, at one point during the concert, addressed the minor with words that have been interpreted in various ways.
Martín told the girl: "You want it now. But things can't happen when you say so, you know? You are very ill-mannered.... You get on someone's shoulders and with that you do whatever you want. What do you think I am, a puppet?", adding "When I say you'll come up... very well." These statements, although the singer insists they were said in a joking tone, caused confusion in the child and laughter among some adults.

The subsequent reaction on social media has divided users between those who believe the singer was ungrateful to the fan, others who think the girl didn't grasp the irony, and some who question the suitability of an 11-year-old being at this type of concert.
In response to the widespread reaction, Dani Martín released a video defending his actions, stating that the exchange occurred in a "clownish tone and communicative laughter" and that the atmosphere at the venue was relaxed. He lamented that some people are "too thin-skinned" to be offended in this context and recalled that he sometimes brings "people who can't sing" on stage, denying any intention to insult the girl.

"I don't know what else to do. [...] He regrets in his apologies that there are people too thin-skinned to be offended in this context."
The girl's mother, María Jesús, appeared on the television program "Y ahora Sonsoles" to recount her experience. While acknowledging awareness of the artist's humor style, she noted that an 11-year-old may lack the emotional tools to process such a reproach, especially when she came with the excitement of delivering a handmade gift. "It's not that we are too thin-skinned; I think one must know how to manage the type of jokes and the age groups," she replied.

The family clarified that, despite the solidarity shown by other concertgoers, no one from Dani Martín's team contacted them after the incident.
