The city of Córdoba is gearing up for a year of significant celebrations, marking the 75th anniversary of the blessing of the image of María Santísima Reina de Nuestra Alegría. The Brotherhood of the Risen Christ has designed a calendar of events that will extend until December 2026, aiming to honor this special occasion.
The pinnacle of these commemorations will be an extraordinary procession of the Virgin, scheduled for October 10, 2026. Additionally, the program includes a series of historical and brotherhood-focused conferences, set to begin in September 2026 at the Miguel Castillejo Foundation. These talks will delve into topics such as the figure of Juan Martínez Cerrillo and the evolution of embroidery in Marian vestments.
Among the planned events, an extraordinary evening rosary with the Virgin of Joy will take place on November 28, 2026. Prior to this, on December 4, 2026, journalist Irene Gallardo will deliver an exaltation to María Santísima Reina de Nuestra Alegría in her temple, anticipating the extraordinary triduum to be held on December 5, 6, and 7, 2026, in thanksgiving for the anniversary.
The program also includes the presentation of the book of proceedings from the first National Congress of Brotherhoods of the Risen Christ on April 10, 2026, at the church of Santa Marina, authored by historian Juan Aranda Doncel. All these events have the approval and pastoral guidance of the bishop of Córdoba, Jesús Fernández, who was informed by the brotherhood on March 10, 2026.
