The Córdoba City Council Plenary has reached a significant agreement between PP, PSOE, and Hacemos Córdoba to promote peace and declare the city a Municipality for Peace, following a debate on international conflicts.

This Thursday's plenary session of the Córdoba City Council was the scene of an intense debate on a motion concerning 'No to War', in response to current international conflicts. The initial proposal, presented by the PSOE, whose councilors attended wearing 'No to War' t-shirts, was amended by the Popular Party, leading to a constructive dialogue that culminated in a convergence of positions.
Ultimately, the PP, PSOE, and Hacemos Córdoba voted in favor of agreements advocating for peace, while Vox opposed, questioning the relevance of discussing such matters at the municipal level. The PP government, through its spokesperson Miguel Ángel Torrico, defended Córdoba's commitment to peace, as reflected in the approved amendment.

The Córdoba City Council expresses its commitment to peace, coexistence, the defense of human rights, and respect for international law, and expresses its rejection of all armed aggression, all terrorist acts, and any attack against the civilian population.

The approved transactional amendment includes the declaration of Córdoba as a Municipality for Peace. Furthermore, the text emphasizes support for resolving international conflicts through diplomatic channels, within the framework of International Law, United Nations resolutions, and in coordination with the European Union and democratic allies.
The agreement also expresses the Córdoba City Council's solidarity with civilian victims of armed conflicts, displaced persons, and those suffering from their humanitarian, social, and economic consequences. It urges the Government of Spain to act responsibly and with unity in addressing the international repercussions of war conflicts.
From the opposition, Antonio Hurtado of the PSOE defended the 'No to War' stance and the position of the central government, while Juan Hidalgo of Hacemos Córdoba criticized the positions of Vox and the national PP. Despite initial differences, the debate maintained a respectful tone, culminating in a consensus that reaffirms Córdoba's commitment as a city of coexistence and dialogue.
