The event, taking place as the sector adapts to market demands, features prominent figures such as Arturo Bernal, Minister of Tourism and Andalucía Exterior, who attended the inauguration. The congress combines meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) tourism with sustainability, two crucial pillars in the industry's recent evolution.
Organized by Ictes in collaboration with various entities, the gathering serves as a platform for reflection, analyzing quality and sustainability in tourism activities. Planning and knowledge are key aspects in an increasingly demanding environment.
“"These types of meetings foster knowledge and help us advance common responses to tourism challenges."
Bernal emphasized the link between quality and trust in destinations, and sustainability as an indispensable condition for current tourism development. He highlighted that sustainability encompasses environmental, social, economic, and governance perspectives, requiring specific tools and cooperation.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Córdoba, José María Bellido, championed the city's role as a “great example or a great laboratory” for the tourism sector. He underscored the congress's importance for Córdoba, serving as a “huge showcase” and a framework for reflection on inland tourism in Heritage Cities.
“"Córdoba can perfectly be a great example or a great laboratory of what is happening in the tourism sector today."
Bellido also stressed the significance of residents as “co-protagonists” and mentioned measures like the moratorium on tourist housing, aiming to reconcile residents' rights with the economic importance of the sector. The congress will feature insights from ministers of five autonomous communities and over 40 experts, offering a valuable learning opportunity for Córdoba's administration and local sector.
